Report from SVP Gerry

Several members of the Federation attended the welcome home parade at the War Memorial led by Danny and supported by many of oue veterans. It was wonderful to see the younger veterans and their families and we were made to feel very welcome.

Many of us were close to tears seeing how the parade was received. Our banner was flown high and we grouped together on the lawn. The Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club also attended and we joined them afterwards for a drink at Olims.

The ceremony was well attended given the scant advertising of it in various forms of media. Overall we had an enjoyable day it was good that we were able to ensure the veterans of that conflict that we are there to assist them in whatever way we can and to have them properly welcomed home.

Federation name change approved at Annual General Meeting, Members approved change to Vietnam Veterans’ and Veterans’ Federation ACT (VVVFACT)

Freezer for Food Van

The compressor in the Food Van freezer has burnt out.

VVFACT seeks the donation of a freezer by a Member who may have a spare one.

A top loading freezer is required to fit within the following dimensions: H 800 – 900 mm, W 570 mm and D 550 mm.

When the Food Van is operating, the freezer is used to store pre-frozen sausages and steaks which are removed and thawed as required.
